My Everyday Makeup Look

Do you ever make the mistake of whipping your camera out intending to take 10 pictures, but ending up with about 100?

Yes?

Oh good, im not alone.

Well, I did just that, and to no surprise to anyone, they were shocking. Just awful, but I was set on doing a post tonight. So lucky you, you get to see the almost acceptable ones! I can just hear the screams of joy all around me! ;)

This is going to be the only full frontal (...of my face - dont get weird) your probably ever going to see, so relish it!

When I'm doing my makeup for a regular day, here in the frozen ice box Canada, I usually take about 5 minutes to complete 'the look'. I should probably lie and say that I have such a busy schedule, so it's almost impossible for me to get the time to do it properly. But the sad truth is that, I am just to darn lazy to sit there and create a masterpiece day after day. However, that's not to say that I don't occasionally go all out, and spend all of 10 minutes on it ;)

Please note my thoughtful expression - does this count as full frontal?

What are your favorite go to makeup products, for when you're in the morning dash?

Whatever your shape, there's a black dress out there

Black little dresses are the style staple that never go out of fashion. Updated season on season, if you get one in a classic shape, it will last you a lifetime. But the important thing to remember when choosing your black dress, is getting the perfect shape to show off you figure. Once you've found that fit then you can then get a dress that can last for decades.

Follow our top tips to get a great gown for your body shape:

~  If you're an apple shape then you need to make the most of your bust and try to create a waist with sneakily cut silhouettes. A black wrap dress is a foolproof option that will focus attention on your legs and décolletage i.e. your best bits. What makes this dress even better is that it's so adaptable you can easily wear it to work or play.
~  An enviable hourglass figure is easily flaunted and most designs will make you look a million dollars. Choosing something fitted will show off your frame and you'll also want to highlight your tiny waist and show off your spectacular shape. The only thing you'll want to avoid is a shapeless shift as it will hide your killer curves.
~  Make the most of a boyish figure. If you're straight up and down then you have to use tricks of the eye to create the illusion of curves. You could go for one of this season's optical illusion dresses to help fake a curvaceous figure. If you want to keep your outfit all black then play with textures. Patent belts draw the eye to a waist and adding lots of necklaces never fails to bring the attention to your bust.
~  A perfect way to make petites look taller. If you're not terribly tall, then the good news is that top to toe black is a brilliant way to give the impression of a few extra inches in a surprisingly subtle way. Keep hemlines above the knee to make legs look long and lovely, add a pair of high heels and keep tights tonal to give yourself a boost without it looking obvious.

So once you've found your perfect dress shape; all you need to do is get it in black and you're guaranteed to look great time after time.

Review || REDKEN Wool Shake 08

We all love a good review, right? Good, I thought so. And what better way is there, than to spend your Sunday night reading about a fantastic hair product?

I have been wanting to review this product for some time now. You may well be asking why, if I wanted to review it has it taken me so long. The answer to that is that I have recently contracted a very severe case of lazititis. It has taken a lot out of me, but i'm happy to report that I am very nearly out of the woods.

We kid, we kid.

I've had this hair product since last June, and it has served me well. Like a basket of warm bread sticks at Olive Garden. Redken's Wool Shake has become a staple in casa Becca, and I can say with full confidence that she is one of the family. Unless she comes home with green hair and a tramp stamp, then she's out on her own. As for now, she is a fully fledged member of the Adams hair routine.

This product isn't one that I had heard a lot about from blogs or youtube videos, but I saw it mentioned in one of Zoe Foster's videos with Mamamia, and knew instantly that it would be perfect for my somewhat curly, and all round unruly hair. It is super easy to apply and you get an instant result from as little as one scrunch. You really couldn't ask for more in a texturizing hair product, if you ask me.

This is one of those products that are a life saver in the case of an emergency. Say you wake up with 5 minutes until you have to dash out the door. You take your hair out of the bun, spritz a light coating throughout your hair, and then scrunch to your heart's content. Voila presto, you have instant tousled beach waves. That truly is how little it takes to make your hair look knockout with this gel-slush spray. The messier the hair, the better.

The thing that sets this texturizer apart from others like it, is the concept of  'wool shake'. I just assumed that once you at a dapple of this on your head you turned into a lamb. Boy, did I look a fool. This spray is unique in that it has cotton extract in it - which literally translates onto your hair. Sounds ridiculous, but it creates such a modern and extraordinary finish, that you get over that in an instant. The dimensions that it gives your hair is phenomenal, it makes a 7 month old cut look as though you got it cut the day before. It creates an almost matte look, which as you all know is very in at the moment and not just for your nails ;)

If you like your hair to look super shiny and clean this most likely is not for you. I personally like it when my hair looks a bit gritty and like it's been slept in and tousled about. It kind of makes your hair appear dirty, in the best way possible of course. This gel-slush formula doesn't give your hair that horrible crunchy, stuck together vibe (unless you really go for it...don't do that), it just makes for a perfectly tousled do. If you scrunch some of this magic through your hair, you're sure to have your barnet looking like you spent ages perfecting it, and as a bonus you'll be the receiver of unlimited compliments!

With all this exeptionality going on, you would think that the wonderful artists at Redken would be tired and call it a day, right? Wrong! They added yet another delicious component! The smell! Soo good! (Yes, it deserves exclamations! I'll give you another for good measure!) Its fragrance isn't too strong, but at the same time if you forgot to put on perfume, you'd still be covered. Its scent is quite hard to determine, but I would say that it has quite a floral scent. It is incredibly fresh and invigorating - perfect for those beautiful spring mornings.
It also doesn't hurt that it's pink. Obviously.

This is such a gorgeous product with too many amazing qualities to name. So basically you have to ask yourself a few questions. Do you want your hair to look perfectly undone every day? Do you want to be the envy of every dame out there? Do you want to smell scrumptious at any given point of the day? If you said yes to the above, then Redken Wool Shake 08 is definitely for you.

Thank you so much for getting this far!

'Dear 14 Year Old Me' - Taken from Kerralina

Dear 14 year old me,

Stop saying "back off". No, it doesn't make you sound cool and mature - it makes you look like an idiot

Maybe make an effort with your eyebrows..at least so you can define them as plural and not singular..

Not having a boyfriend really won't make you any less 'cool'

Lying about having said boyfriend just makes you seem desperate, and although you are, it's probably best not to broadcast it.

Don't dye your hair with red Kool-Aid. It doesn't dye your hair as much as it does your skin.

Your mum isn't quite as embarrassing or mean as you think she is. You will actually be extremely thankful    for her in a short while

Go to school everyday! It's so much worse when you don't go!

Try not to compare yourself with your friends. They're the way they are for a reason, and you are the way you are for something equally as special.

Keep in touch with the friends you have now. You'll regret not having them in your life.

You aren't as old as you think you are.

Life gets so much better than it is right now. Just hold on a little longer and everything will get better.

What do you wish someone would have told you when you were 14?

Please go and check out Kerralina's blog! It wonderfully glorious and I know that you'll love her as much as I do! X

2013 Wish List

Happy New Year Everyone!

I thought that I would just put a quick post up, seeing as how I haven't posted anything this year. It's just going to be a quickie but sometimes you just need a brief read ;)

I think that I'm going to make a mini series out of it, and do a make up wishlist and hair wishlist (let me know what you think in the comments)

Blue Long Sleeve Contrast Cape Pocket Denim Blouse - I absolutely love this blouse! It has a mix of wonderfully whimsical and obscenely preppy. The denim is such a gorgeous wash, it's just such an easy shade to mix and match with! It doesn't hurt that it looks so soft and snuggly!

Jeffrey Campbell Leather Lita Boots - I have been lusting after these boots for years! They are seriously just amazing and easy to pair with pretty much anything. I'll hopefully have enough money one day to be able to splash out on these bad boys!...a girl can dream...

Emily D Vegan Leather Leggings - These are such a good knock off of real leather. I think that faux leggings are such a good idea to have in every wardrobe - they are so so easy to pair with a blouse or vest and blazer. I love these ones as they wont break the bank and they're vegan! Yeassss!

butter London Bossy Boots - Gorgeous color. Gorgeous nail polish.

MICHAEL Michael Kors Hamilton Large Tote - This is the same story as the Jeffrey Campbell. I've wanted a Michael Kors bag for ages and this one just fits me perfectly. It's large enough for all my junk but is still stylish and very well constructed. It's just a timeless piece and I am so in love with it. Just need to get money now...

So there you have it, my 2013 wish list. I hope that this wasn't too boring and you haven't fallen asleep on your keyboard.

I'd love to hear what you all are salivating over so far this year down below! XX

DIY Bow Ornaments

So, I recently went shopping with my mum for some new Christmas goodies! I walked into Michael
's full of all the naivety in the world, and walked out with the realization that Christmas definitely isn't free. Since when do ornaments cost $21.00!!! All I wanted was to make my home a winter wonderland but no, its not that simple. Being me, the wonderful daughter that I am, I didn't want my mum to spend her money on, and I cant believe im saying this, frivolities. So I found myself sulking down aisles, eyeing anything that was sparkly or oozing Christmas essence. Resigned that I was going home without anything, I found this gorgeous wired ribbon in a rose gold (I know you cant really tell in the photos) for only $3.00 (60% off!!),and the thought struck me, try to create your own ornaments.

I often get sudden bursts of inspiration, and normally its wanting to learn to play the piano or become the next Da vinci,
but for me to actually buy that ribbon and then come home to start the project, lets just say that it doesn't often happen. I must tell you, I am not the most crafty person, and anything that I try to create or embellish, will almost always find itself in the trash. So when the 'ornaments' weren't looking like a toddlers masterpiece, I knew that I had to document this monumental occasion.

Here's my 'How To' bow ornament recipe:

1 roll of your favorite ribbon - preferably with wired edge

     A good few ornament hangers

-Cut so the ribbon is about 16' in length
-Fold in the center of the ribbon
-Make 2 loops to the right and left of the center
-Tie together like you would any other bow
You will need to play with the lengths
of each loop for it to tie properly
- Cut a diagonal line to create the 'V' look on the ends
-Slide a ornament hanger through the back belt loop,      if you will
-Tie the ornament to the tree and adjust the bow to your liking

There you have it, an easy affordable tree ornament. I hope that this was useful to all you kind folks, and maybe it has given you a few ideas of your own. X
